I meant one entry per mac address and not one entry per ip address. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Sebastien Windal Sent: Wednesday, December 21, 2005 4:44 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [WhatsUp Forum] MAC Address search does not work
Does your switch support the Bridge MIB? The MAC address tool uses the dot1dTpFdbTable (1.3.6.1.2.1.17.4.3) to get a mapping between bridge port and MAC address. To find out, walk this table using snmpview or use the performance monitor "live" MIB browser (see attached screen capture). You should get one entry per ip address on this table. All this tool seems to do is that it goes to a router, looks up arp of all IP's in the defined range, and then does an nslookup on it. Plus why defined IP range. Can I define a single IP in this tool as well?? That would be usefull for my desktop support team. Why is this so?? I am trying this on various Cisco Switches. Anybody else seeing this, or am I making a boo-boo Thanks, H Please visit http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html to be removed from this list.
