There's probably already a better answer to "Why not use <object> for foo?" in the archives of this list, but the short version is that it's nicer for implementations to have elements that support particular functionality when node is created instead of having elements that change their nature substantially depending on attributes, network fetches, presence of plug-ins, etc., etc. -- Henri Sivonen [email protected] http://hsivonen.iki.fi/
