Sure, this will be the worst case scenario, a package that was never tested. Anyway, would a qemu emulation be an option here? I.e, the the developer could boot a ppc64el image using qemu-ppc64le to guarantee that his image works. I am able to do that and run a ppc64le emulated environment easily.
