Basically, you will be doing this as an individual, not as a
representative of the PPMC. Folks voting on it are doing so as
individuals too, not as representatives of the PPMC.
I think that the two things that we should do are:
1. Inform the Incubator PMC (via the general@ list) that we will be
doing this, and that this will be the last release outside the
incubator.
2. Put a notice file in as you have suggested noting that this release
is not endorsed by the ASF
It might make sense to include the text of the notice in the general@ email.
I'm sure we'll get some flak and some people who disagree with what we
are doing. We are not asking for permission - we are telling them what
we are doing, and asking if anyone has any minor adjustments to how we
do it.
We can make the point that moving an existing community into incubation
takes time and doing this release is just one part of that process.
