It would be +1 for making this an option in the applicationsettings though, because I can imagine people argument the other way around (when you let designers loose on your pages after you actually build them).

Initial Comment: While the id's of components like labels have the wicket prefix removed (e.g. <span id="wicket-myLabel">blah</span> renders <span id="myLabel">blah</span).
This is not the case for panels.
E.g. <div id="wicket-header"/> will render to:
<div id="wicket-header"/><wicket:region name="panel"> ...
while it should be:
<div id="header"/><wicket:region name="panel"> ...
