That's the bit I wanted to clarify, as there was the build.xml but I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be usable. I'd suggest flagging that on the site cvs-usage page, though, as the presence of the build.xml might suggest it could be used directly? > If you want to play with ant, you are on your own or you have to use the > distribution. Why go through the troubles of using a > combination of maven and ant if maven can already perform your tasks? Because a large %age of developers don't use/want to use Maven but do use Ant, for various reasons? Personally, I can use ant at work, but maven's likely to be a step too far there, so am much more familiar with ant than maven. In addition, my IDE integrates with ant out of the box, whereas I need to jump through a number of hoops to use maven. Actually, my preference would be for an ant task that could parse the maven dependency list and print them out, or better still, download them to lib/, not requiring maven at all, but I'd initially thought that that might be too involved... > > Martijn > > Gwyn Evans wrote: > > >Hmm, the last kit of wicket-examples was easy enough to get going, but > >when I tried with the CVS-HEAD, then it was a real pain in that it > >also required wicket-contrib support. > > > >It might have been confused by my trying to use the Ant build script > >there, rather than maven. > > > >(As an aside. what is the state of Ant within Wicket?
