The changes are only minor, thus existing code should not break, but
a) you never know and b) I've tested it with Label,
WebMarkupContainer, ListView, Panel and Border. Though it should cover
many applications, I haven't tested markup inheritance and
<wicket:header>. Provided we call it a first shot than I'm fine with
1.1 and minor additions/bug fixes later on.

To avoid misunderstandings, in order to re-render a component you must
call cycle.request(component); There is nothing like a URL which gets
analyzed and the response contains the rendered component only.
