I don't think this is a good idea, you can have requests that don't update something in the page. Or nothing has been updated.
I could envision an ajax 'keep session alive' auto update component, that doesn't update the webpage, but does a request each 10 minutes or so. Just like a page: a page doesn't have to have components attached to it.
