If it were easy or not too much work, then it would've been done
already, I think. The problem is that most concepts have been altered,
and new, better stuff has emerged. This new/better/easier stuff is why
the manual is considered obsolete.
Note: I don't mean to trash you, it is a statement on the state of the
manual, rather than your criticism. I don't mean to discourage you in
any way to speak freely :-)
I'm sorry to push on this without being able to offer to help much
myself. :-(
