I've been bitten by the Markup Not Found error as well. It would be
nice if that message was accompanied by some bit of information about
what markup it was expecting to find, But unfortunately the stack
trace was devoid of any helpful information.
As it sits, the message is just about as effective as your wife
giving you the silent treatment, expecting that you know what you did
wrong ... this time. And unfortunately wicket doesn't respond to
giving it flowers while remaining blissfully ignorant of the
underlying problem.
In one case the markup I had for a panel was missing the wicket:panel
tags. I could certainly have figured out the problem more easily if
wicket has said something like "Markup Not Found: Panel markup must
be enclosed in wicket:panel tags". Or in another case it could have
said "Hey dumb ass, you forgot to add a closing quote mark to the
attribute xxx in the yyy tag".
