by default the default button is the one that appears first in the markup - thats just how browsers work.

the way i have done it in the past was to use input type="button" instead of type="submit", these buttons would then set a value of some hidden field. you can init the hidden field to some default value so if the form is submitted via enter thats the value you get. havent translated all this into wicket yet.
