Sebastian et al.,
First, let me say that my below response is completely unsolicited. I don't work for Wikia, nor do I have any vested interest in their company. (ie. stocks) Earlier this year I was fortunate enough to find myself in California and was able to stop by San Mateo and meet the actual people behind the aliases and email addresses. I personally vouch for the fact that Wikia, those I met, are a very hard-working, amiable bunch of individuals. Despite a few hiccups, they have generally bent over backward to help me and the 7 wikis I manage. (Thought I probably account for 10% of Wikia's requests, so I keep them very busy. :) Aside from a number of Force Majeure issues which are bound to occur in any tech company, they have nearly 3,000 wikis to attend to. Being a relatively new company, growing at an amazing pace, it won't be for some time until Wikia is as stable as an AS/400. Be patient. I would challenge you to setup and maintain a 100% uptime with a complex and changing architecture like Wikia's. I work with enterprise clusters every day for companies and governments fully 10x Wikia's size, all of which whom experience the same or similar uptime issues. It is part of the game. As for revenue, I have non-Wikia websites as well. Let me tell you that there is simply no way the cents per click a top-1000 site typically generates can support a company growing this quickly. They are most likely running in the red until the brand name, the wikis and the overall market matures. No parties for 99% of startup companies, I am afraid. I, for one, am happy about moving the Marvel and DC Databases to Wikia last year and would do the same given the chance again tomorrow. There have been marked improvements in the previous 12 months and I expect more again in the coming 12.
