Hi Bennet, Please note that Wikipedia is not a Wikia project, so this isn't the right list to discuss this issue. The Wikimedia Foundation operates Wikipedia and their mailing list is at <http://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/foundation-l>. As a summary, it could affect the non-profit status of the Foundation, many Wikipedians are against it <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Wikipedians_against_advertisements>, it could be affect neutrality of the content (even if you use adsense, advertisers and site owners have some control over which ads are shown), it could affect the perception of the neutrality of the content even if it's not really affecting it, and the Foundation hasn't yet explored the many other options open to them (ads would be a very last resort).
