Agreed. My bot (http://vim.wikia.com/wiki/User:JohnBot) use pywikipedia, is well behaved, and has done over 3400 edits. For the record, whereas a bot can be as simple as you describe, when I looked (August 2007), the documentation was pretty weak on setting up: exactly where you put everything (what directories), and how you configure for your wiki. Also, the error trapping is a bit vague (what exceptions are likely to occur, and what data you should capture from them). However, in practice I've been very impressed that errors are extremely rare (like a server temporary overload), and the pywikipedia framework has recovered after retrying in pretty well every case.
