The files didn't completely disappear. They're all there (and it looks like another admin came along and deleted the file description pages). The bug here seems to be that it's possible for a split to happen where the file gets marked as deleted (and becomes inaccessible), but the file description page lingers. I imagine this is a duplicate bug. If this bug had involved actual data loss (i.e., the images actually completely disappeared), that would be a major bug. (It's rare, but sometimes files can actually be completely deleted.) But as it appears with this bug, this seems like normal priority.
