From English Wikipedia, John Broughton (♫♫) 22:40, 12 July 2013 (UTC):

When selecting an image to be inserted, the selected thumbnail has a black box
around it. The lines of the box are so fine as to make them almost invisible. A
much better feedback would be if, when a thumbnail is selected, it turns blue
in exactly the same way as when an image in an article is selected. (A blue
coloring behavior - not the same as within an article, though - does happen for
some images, though not most. For example, if one searches for "Sandbox", four
of the first twelve thumbnails do add some blue if selected, though in one case
just a sliver.)
