Bug ID: 61777
Summary: VisualEditor: Make references visible for re-use when
they're 'hidden' inside templates, e.g., list-defined
refs in the reflist template
Product: VisualEditor
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: Unprioritized
Component: General
Assignee: [email protected]

This is related to Bug 57209.
List-defined references (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:LDR#WP:LDR)
are listed in the {{reflist}} template rather than in the regular text of the
page. References that are defined inside the {{reflist}} are not visible when
you try to re-use an existing reference.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a page that uses list-defined references with the {{reflist}} template
(rather than <references></ref>).
2. Go to Insert > Reference to add a new reference. Click "Re-use existing
reference".
3. Discover that the numbers ("[1]") and ref names are visible, but the
contents are not.
This problem does not exist if the non-template method is used. This problem
also exists for refs inside blockquotes, infoboxes, and other templates.
