I'm willing to elaborate as I have decent (recent) experience: I was the technical lead of the LRMI project, which wrote the "Education" extension to Schema.org, through my work at Creative Commons. RDFa, Schema.org microdata, FB opengraph, twitter cards, etc etc need to be carefully thought about in tandem.
