I don't think this is worse. This is better. The extensions that didn't have REL1_23 branches have REL1_23 branches now. It isn't likely that any changes have been made to the extensions that are not compatible with 1.23 at this point. If there are any such problems, then that is a new bug. Once that is done, I think this bug can be closed.
