             Bug #: 29691
           Summary: Uploaded new version of photos doesn't replace old
                    version but always appears in second place.
           Product: MediaWiki
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Windows XP
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: Unprioritized
         Component: Uploading
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [email protected]
                CC: [email protected]
    Classification: Unclassified

I tried to upload a newer version of File:Parelboom - Louise Schouwenberg
(Apeldoorn).jpg
To my surprise, the new version could be seen on the history list, but the old
version was immediately placed on top. So the effect was negative.
I tried again to upload the new photo, but once more, this photo was put in the
second place; the old photo always 'floats' on top.
Trying to revert didn't help.
I asked the Commons:Help desk, but the only answer I got was to hold shift down
while reloading, to empty my cache. But this isn't the problem.

I waited several days and today I tried again to upload the right photo. And as
you can see, the old (blue, winter) photo is still on top, and there are now
THREE identical (new, green) versions below it.

On the Help pages, I see now that several other people have the same problem:
See:
* Commons:Help_desk#Parelboom_problem
* Commons:Help_desk#Strange_fog
*
Commons:Help_desk#Uploading_a_new_version_of_a_file_does_not_replace_the_original_file
* Commons:Help_desk#same_name.2C_new_file_-_but_it_does_not_show

There must be a wrong program error somewhere. I hope it can be fixed soon,
because it is embarrassing to many people, and everyone stays trying to get the
new photo in top.

Thanks in advance, Erik Wannee.
