Correct. The English Wikipedia community doesn't want that Wikidata to manage this data, where they have no control over it
I'm going to mention some of the reasons but I suggest we don't discuss them too much, as this is volatile topic that will just distract everyone.
- Wikidata has no effective vandalism control
- Wikidata changes often doesn't show on watchlists (delayed) or does so cryptically P# Q##
- Wikidata doesn't use references for descriptions
- protected articles can be vandalized via wikidata
- wikidata descriptions are not visible on desktop and are thus their quality is not easily observable there
- mixing wikidata and wikipedia is confusing for readers
- 'i don't understand/want to use wikidata', but you are forcing me to use it
- Something like "Wikimedia disambiguation page" is not a useful description on Wikipedia
and quite some more arguments.
