I hacked mediawiki core to present the webrequest id to all debug log ( Gerrit 438232 ). That might help sorting out the logs and tracking what is going on a per web request basis.
I then made a Wikibase change to depend on that patch. A Selenium test for Echo fails due to the user being logged out. The build (kept forever): https://integration.wikimedia.org/ci/job/mediawiki-core-qunit-selenium-jessie/20305/ ( debug log, 1.81MBytes ).
The tests seems to fail rather constantly on two jobs:

But quibble-vendor-mysql-hhvm-docker seems to always pass. That is essentially the same as the php70 docker container but using HHVM. Maybe it is slower and thus the race condition is not triggering the issue.
