Actually, I think this script is a very cool framework but is not that
less confusing than the actual item page. I think we should hide as much
information about the structure behind the data as possible (which
perhaps is not that much) because otherwise the users won't understand
what they're doing.
As for mapping Wikipedia templates to wikidata properties I think
James F. mentioned something about including that into templatedata

Well, that's perhaps the even better idea. However, I could not find
that suggestion yet.
