Then I'd say the alternatives are either
1) no inferences at all
2) find a solution for inferences to show up on recent changes on related items

This brings up a very interesting idea. We could display certain properties which are said to be symmetric on both items and treat it like we treat statement usages on clients: Showing an entry in the watchlist and (later) in the page history of that item. The mechanism for this already exists on client wikis, maybe we can make that work on wikidata.org as well.
