I am usually all for Web standards and so on, but I have also seen with the Wikidata-to-RDF mapping work that it really is a lot of effort to do such a mapping properly. We already have two output formats (Wikibase custom JSON and RDF [in various formats]), and both of these are in active use and will not go away. I would add support for further standards only when there are clear use cases.
