No need to translate DBpedia queries. We have a large number (over 300)
of user-written example queries for Wikidata:
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:SPARQL_query_service/queries/examples
Maybe you can find a good example there. I am afraid that blocking
operators are rather essential in practice though, unless you use
neither aggregates nor put a limit on the number of results (the latter
makes sense only with ordered results, at least if you want paging).
