Hi Bee -

I know exactly what you mean. Finding time to contribute to
collaborative projects like WikiEd, taking into account with the
unreasonable workloads of the education profession is not easy!

I'm continually searching for ways to make it easier for teachers to
contribute. For example, the Handouts4Teachers project is a new idea
for small doable projects.

See: http://www.wikieducator.org/Handouts4Teachers

Imagine if every teacher in the world were to develop just one handout
per year - pretty soon we would have an impressive collection of
resources that could be used in the classroom. This would demonstrate
the value of free content to education institutions.

What we really need is for education institutions to commit FTE (Full-
time-equivalent) resources and to officially recognise contributions
to WikiEducator as an official part of their work.

I'm hoping to start an advocacy campaign called FTEs4WikiEducator to
document the benefits of working collaboratively and to call on
education institutions to assist in achieving free content resources
in support of all national curricula by 2015. Can you image the impact
if every education institution in the world were to donate 1 FTE to
work full-time on content development in WikiEducator!

Otago Polytechnic is a leading example - and I'm planning to develop a
case study for WikiEducator to tell their story. Hopefully this will
encourage other institutions to follow their example.

Chat to you soon,
Wayne
