Yes, I think it is reasonable to ask for contributions.. but some institutions will have difficulty with anything that looks like a donation.. simply because their accounts may not have a field that makes that possible.
So I suggest that there is a service payment system. Perhaps the courses on using the wiki should cost a little (with a free and discounted option available at COLs discretion). So, the institutions that have money for professional development can opt to pay, and those that don't have money come in for free. A bit like many public schools voluntary fees system. What other services can Wikieducator offer for a fee? In the mean time, can we update the RSS extension as Brent suggests and see if that fixes what is a pretty important feature in Web2 world?
