Thanks for the reports - especially to Robert & Wayne for the detailed feedback. This is what I've sent to PediaPress for now.
I think the main priority should be to make the thing more tolerant, so that we always get _some_ output, even if it's not ideal. Cheers, Erik ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Erik Moeller <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Feb 6, 2008 12:02 PM Subject: Open issues in wiki-to-print functionality Heiko, (writing in English so I can CC Brion :-) the following issues probably should be addressed before we can start using the wiki-to-print functionality on WMF projects. Brion will weigh in with additional comments & concerns as he reviews the code. * PRIORITY HIGH: When the parser dies, the user should get a more friendly message, explaining the beta status of the code, what issues are most likely to cause problems, etc. * Is it possible to turn off logging & temp files? It might be good to have an explicit &debug=true URL switch for admins to get log information through the web. Of course, if we can reliably cache generated PDFs, we should figure out a way to do so. * PRIORITY HIGH: The more tolerant we can make the code towards stuff it can't handle, the better. It's much better for us to spit out a PDF that ignores HTML / stylesheets in the wiki-code than to throw an error message. * The <gallery> tag is not supported. It's used on quite a few WP pages - would it be hard to make it work? * Images without an alignment parameter seem to be resized to be fairly huge. See http://www.wikieducator.org/Using_Audacity/The_Interface as an example. * PRIORITY MEDIUM: There are some issues with clearing collections. I've forwarded you separate mails about this.
