Hello WE,

A month ago WE (again) kicked off a discussion regarding quality. This
discussion included a couple of calls for participation
http://groups.google.com/group/wikieducator/browse_thread/thread/66aa1778786ef0ca?hl=en#
And we created a page to encourage collaboration
http://www.wikieducator.org/WikiEducator:Quality_Assurance_and_Review.
This is all good.

I like the approach we have agreed to in addressing quality within WE.
I like the idea of using the featured article approach, so WE proposed
four featured items;
http://www.wikieducator.org/WikiEducator:Quality_Assurance_and_Review#Tasks_and_work_in_progress
1. Featured learning resource
2. Featured reuse materials
3. Featured institution
4. Featured project

I recently read an post about quality & learning2.0 and I would agree
with what the author states at the end of thier post, what is
important is participation and skills.
http://elearningtech.blogspot.com/2008/06/instruction-elearning-20-and-quality.html

The questions I have for the group looking at quality within WE are;
1. Do you believe that our "quality standard(s)" should primarily
encourage participation and wiki based OER skills development?
2. Do you believe that the featured item approach will work to
encourage participation and deepen skills?
3. Are there other approaches / items (not mentioned in the discussion
so far) we should consider in developing a WE quality initiative?

Cheers, Peter
