Hi Randy, That's a good point. The Community Governance Policy provides a somewhat generic description of responsibilities and powers of Council members -- but this doesn't give us any real detail.
I'm wondering whether this is something that should be included in the proposed governance manual or whether we should have separate job descriptions? I've added your thought onto the items for discussion on the agenda for the first meeting: http://wikieducator.org/WikiEducator:Community_Council/Meetings/First I've found the Institute on Governance's eLearning tools very useful in getting valuable information on good governance -- http://www.iog.ca/boardgovernance/index.html The institute also stresses the importance of defining roles and responsibilities -- so were on the right track here. I'm sure that there are other good resources on the web -- but this is a good starting point.
