About the Conference
The modern system of education is largely unrelated to life and there is a
wide gulf between its content and purposes and the concerns of national
development. No reform is more important or more urgent than to transform
education, to attempt to relate to the life, needs and aspirations of the
people and thereby make it a powerful instrument of social, economic and
cultural transformation necessary for realisation of our national goals.
In the modern world, scientific research constitutes a fundamental activity
of a nation, vital to its progress, and is almost a necessary precondition
for all kinds of human effort. There is a need to identify the research
imperative in various fields that are essential for national development.
To articulate on the various issues there is a need for a forum. A thorough
diagnosis followed by concerted policy formulation would certainly enhance
the chances of success. Indian Education Congress (IEC) is making an attempt
to prioritise the research endeavours for taking India ahead of all other
countries, developing and developed.

Call for Papers
The conference invites, from interested contributors, papers that address
the conference theme. Papers submitted should not have been published
previously.
Interested contributors are requested to submit abstracts each of
approximately 400 words in English by e-mail and also a hardcopy. The title
of the paper, full name of the author(s), affiliation(s), and mailing
address should be given in the abstract along with a photograph. The
specific sub-theme covered has to be indicated.
Time-Table:
Deadline for receipt of Abstracts : 15 Dec 2008
Deadline for full manuscript paper : 15 Dec 2008
Conference Venue:
The conference will be held at Utkal University, Vani Vihar, Bhubaneswar,
Orissa.
Registration Fee
For IEC Members / Local Participants Rs. 300
Non IEC Members Rs. 500
Accompanying Person Rs. 300
• Registration Fee is payable not later than 10th Nov. 2008
• There will be an additional charge of Rs.200 for late Registration.
• Fees include admission to all sessions, provision of lunch and Tea on
both days of the conference and the proceedings. Out-station participants
will be provided hostel type accommodation free.
