Hi Valerie, I also like the Wikibooks approach with a visual representation of the stage of completion.
We've been working on a proof-of-concept prototype which includes a similar "status" graphic, but tweaked a little for educational needs to incorporate a review phase and usage comments from educators who have used the resource in their teaching. The tentative four stages we have are: 1. Draft resource under development 2. Resource ready for review comments (so that the primary authors can opt-in for peer feedback) 3. Published (to indicate that review phase is completed and feedback comments integrated into the resource) 4. To indicate that the OER has an acceptable number of usage comments and feedback from teachers See for example: http://wikieducator.org/Template:OER_Metadata#status Automated listing can be done with smart use of categories which get inserted when the metadata template is inserted on a page. We also need to think about metadata to help index and classify our OER materials, You can see an example of how the metadata template might work at the bottom of this page. (You can expand the template to view the tags): http://wikieducator.org/Wikieducator_tutorial/What_is_a_wiki A more detailed description of the different elements and tags is provided on the template master: http://wikieducator.org/Template:OER_Metadata We have a good starting point :-) We now need to review, refine and test the prototype for all our WE use cases. Then plan for implementation -- as you point out, we must plan for scalability and sustainability. Given the magnitude, scope and importance of OER metadata -- perhaps we should think about establishing a Community Workgroup to take this forward? (see: http://wikieducator.org/Workgroup:WikiEducator_Workgroups/Guidelines) Thoughts?
