Hi Everyone We have received a number of requests from members of the WIkiEducator family to consider implementing a feature that would enable users to bookmark their favourite WikiEducator pages on various social networking sites. A rough consensus of the WikiEducator techie list agrees that this is a good idea - -as one member put it: "you pretty much can't survive without one these days." WE have responded to your request :-).
We propose running a trial period to test how this works for WikiEducator and whether or not users like the feature. Give it a try - - you will find the share button in the navigation bar on the left hand side of your screen. Please note that this is an external commercial service operated by AddThis.com (http://www.addthis.com/) and they do not necessarily subscribe to our values of open education. That said, the copyright of the metadata of social tags is a personal decision of the individual user -- we don't see any conflict with the core OER mission of the WIkiEducator project. Also note that the terms of service provided by AddThis.com could potentially result in advertising in the future. WikiEducator will NOT carry advertising on our site and in the event that advert messages appear on the WE site from this service, we will need discontinue the button and find alternate solutions. Users should also note when using this service, you will fall under the Privacy Policy of AddThis.com and not the OER Foundation privacy policy - -see (http://www.addthis.com/privacy). It is important that users are aware of this fact that when using the service, for instance personal data like your Userpage can be held by the external service provider.
