Hi Paul, Always good that people are looking into the OER space. The
challenge of course is that NZ is a No.8 pioneer here in many respects -
-but there is growing evidence and traction around the world.

You have the Dutch example (national project supported by the Dutch Minsitry
of Education:

Other interesting /related initiatives

   - Carrolina Rossini (from the Berkman Institute @ Harvard) recently
published a green paper on OER in Brazil - -see:
   http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Green_Paper_OER_Brazil_20100108.pdf
   - Do take a look at the The Washington State Board for Community and
Technical Colleges who recently passed an open licensing
policy<http://www.sbctc.edu/general/admin/Tab_9_Open_Licensing_Policy.pdf>
   :

*“All digital software, educational resources and knowledge produced
through competitive grants, offered through and/or managed by the SBCTC,
will carry a Creative Commons Attribution License.” *(Granted -- this is
tertiary -- but significant because a government agency has decreed that all
funding spent on projects to develop content must be released under CC-BY.
   - Search for California and open textbooks to see other gov initiatives
   supporting OER.

A starting point ....

Cheers
Wayne
