It looks like you are thinking of building something with a fairly regular
structure. You may want to take a look at some of the early steps we are
taking with Javascript to automate some tasks (especially table building
which otherwise can be tedious/error prone) to see if there is something
that might be adapted to simplify your project.

Some examples that come to mind include:

   1. Rob Kruhlak <http://wikieducator.org/User:Kruhly> has been doing some
interesting work with making it easy to add data rows to
tables<http://wikieducator.org/User:JimTittsler/Data>(and even
plotting
   the resulting data <http://wikieducator.org/Widget:TestingjqPlot>).
   2. Wayne Mackintosh designed a workflow for the Greater Christchurch
Schools Network that builds a boilerplate
"resource"<http://wikieducator.org/Greater_Christchurch_Schools_Network/Lesson_builder>that
the teachers can populate.
   3. We are using pop-up forms to populate a row of a
table<http://wikieducator.org/Widget:Register>(in this case for
registration).

After you get in to your project, if some variation on one of these themes
might prove useful, please join the
WikiEducator-tech<http://groups.google.com/group/wikieducator-tech>mailing
list at Google Groups to discuss your ideas.

Looking forward to bugging out,
  Jim
