All I did was enter that in my Google box that's in my Browser address bar. I don't know if you'd get a different result if you actually *went* to www.google.com and used the search box in the middle of that page or not.
I forget what that thing is called that appears as a search box right in my address bar, but it claims it's google ! -----Original Message----- From: Thomas Dalton <[email protected]> To: English Wikipedia <[email protected]> Sent: Wed, 22 Apr 2009 4:00 pm Subject: Re: [WikiEN-l] Schools Wikipedia 2009/4/22 <[email protected]>: > Never having heard of this, I googled it. > > http://www.google.com/url?sa=U&start=1&q=http://schools-wikipedia.org/&ei=ko7vSe--LZHgsgO35dniAQ&usg=AFQjCNGHWVsmx1H5Rj9QmaaPUDR4kcovMw > > Why does Google add that funny bit at the front of this long URL, and > that really odd bit at the end? It's a google URL pointing to the schools wikipedia URL, probably so they can monitor who clicks on external links, or something. The last bit is probably a session ID, it's like using cookies but puts the info on the end of the URL instead of in a separate file. _______________________________________________ WikiEN-l mailing list [email protected] To unsubscribe from this mailing list, visit: https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikien-l _______________________________________________ WikiEN-l mailing list [email protected] To unsubscribe from this mailing list, visit: https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikien-l
