I used for my test (meta.wikimedia.org and it is a project) - species.wikimedia.org - commons.wikimedia.org - meta.wikimedia.org .... and perhaps incubator.wikimedia.org? I have no idea in the current system how they are described, but it doesn't make a sense to omit them either. In the last year, we just selected one from a pull-down menu. It could be more easiler.
