I went to Capital Punishment in Canberra earlier today in order to try to
take mountain bike pictures for Commons and to try to write a Wikinews
article on the event. While there, I had a chance to chat with the guy who
runs the event. There will be a similar event in Sydney next weekend with
the details in
http://cyclenation.com.au/EventOrganisers/EventDetails.aspx?eeid=5063 .

It is part of a series of seven races they run, the largest mountain
bicycling series in Australia by total number of participants, with between
6,000 and 8,000 people participating total. This includes the people who
participate in recreational cycling and world champions. The organiser
wouldn't mind if anyone wanted to cover the event for Wikinews. :) Could
be a good fun for an hour or so. In Canberra, there were a large number of
people from Sydney who came in to ride and there were a fair number of
women riders, including a group from Newcastle that was 20 or so large and
included former Australian national team members.

If you need any help writing an article, I'd be more than happy to assist.
:) It might also be a good excuse to get pictures for a regional article
like say "Mountain biking in New South Wales." :)
