Hallo everyone,
A team of three Wiki-medians managed to attend the ICT open day at Egerton
University together with a team of three members from Mozilla. The event
was quite informative and entertaining and Stephen made the presentation.
We managed to talk to a few students who didn't hesitate to show their
interests on the activities of Wiki-medians both locally and
internationally. More so, they requested we visit for a whole day so that
we teach them how to edit the wiki and elaborate more on the activities of
Wikimedia as a whole. This was emphasized even more when a discussion
started over the lunch break regarding the decentralization of Wikimedia KE
activities from Nairobi to other parts of the country. The conclusion from
the discussion was that, if we can manage to have more editors or Wikimedia
enthusiasts in different regions of the country, we will surely have an
easier time attracting more editors as well as getting more local
contributions to the wiki's. Congrats to my fellow Wiki-Moz team for their
contributions that made this out reach not only successful but also
enjoyable and quite memorable.
Regards,
