Dear All,

The proposed names are collaborators who have been working on creating various repositories for the various WIKIMEDIAZA platforms and great stakeholders therefore who can help entrench the chapter in Mzansi through their networks.

Will include my motivation below and hopefully they will all send through theirs. Can othwerwise undertake to compile their individual contribution to get to David for screening by Sunday.

I’m South African and live in Johannesburg I’m highly networked within the Arts, Culture, Science and Technology sectors. I am a great proponent of Open Source and have been instrumental in forging partnerships with Stanford University and the South African Department of Science and Technology to build Cyber Infrastructure with the Director of Pervasive Parallel Laboratory Professor Kunle Olukotun. This has led to a series of lectures nationally and in Cape Town through the High Performance Computing Centre including lectures at the Africa Institute of Maths and Science (AIMS) and Meraka Institute. Have been very active in the last few months advocating on the aims of Wikimedia through stakeholder engagement and mobilisation with the various struggle icons proposed to be represented on WIKIMEDIAZA such as Robert Sobukwe, Steve Biko, Alf Khumalo, Museum Africa et al through the GLAM platform as well as the Women ZA Camp and the promotion and preservation of urban culture.

I arranged a successful Bar Camp in Cape Town in 2010 for the World Bank Innovation Fair by mobilising the ICT community as well as Development Practitioners. Believe that through my networks, my project management and good writing skills as well as technical research gained through working extensively with the World Bank, the ILO and the UNDP I bring to the WIKI ZA a valuable diverse worldly contribution that is needed to transform and catapult our country and Information Technology Landscape through Open Source. As a trained Management Account I can play a useful role in Stakeholder Management and Liaison as well as Governance. Believe the preservation of the South African History depends on the diverse and quality repository it keeps on its heritage and history.

Good luck with the AGM and the launch. Will try and hook up on skype

Abundant Blessings

Thelma Machogo
