Good morning Chapter Members,

Wikimedia South Africa is glad to announce that the WMZA/Mava Online workshop,
in partnership with the Institute of Creative Repair, is set to take place on
29 November 2025, from 09:00 to 14:00.

The workshop aims to empower participants from the Mava Field School with
knowledge to create and upload content on Wikipedia in both English and
TshiVenda. Participants will be composed of indigenous knowledge researchers,
creatives and social science graduates from Venda/Limpopo and Gauteng/Pretoria.

The workshop will utilise content from a recent research project, to create 8
interconnected pages.

These pages will include biographies of four craft Masters from Venda, in
recognition of their contributions to craft and indigenous knowledge, and four
pages about Craft, Techniques, Processes and Meanings.

In preparation for the event, WMZA has opened a call for Volunteers who are
interested in helping facilitate the WMZA/Mava Online workshop.
Volunteers must be available for the Online workshop from 09:00 - 14:00, on 29
November 2025.

Members who are interested in volunteering their time for the workshop, please
email [email protected] to submit your expression of interest by no later
than Monday, 24 November 2025.

Best Regards
Wikimedia South Africa
