Yes. IF (and only if) they came with the drive -- directly bundled with the drive.
This was popular in the version 5 series when they gave it out BUNDLED WITH
almost every drive I was buying at the time...

From the OEM's point of view:

Burning software is expensive! Soon after Windows XP was released I bought EZ CD Creator for $99.00 and it did not even support XP! They patched it 3 months later. We all know how effective a patch is, especially we who remember after market air conditioners for automobiles.

As an OEM I buy CD and DVD burners in bulk. Bulk means you get the unit in a plastic wrapper. You get no box or instruction booklet. If you are fortunate you get bundled software. Currently I sell my CD Burner for $40.00 and my DVD Burner for $80.00. That includes my markup. Decent burning software sells for from $70.00 to $100.00. Go figure! Is there any way they will bundle software that costs more than the unit they are selling? The only reason they bundle software is because their competition bundles it.

No wonder I have the disclaimer, "CD and DVD writing devices are guaranteed to read CD's. I can not guarantee your success in writing, especially if you do not purchase decent software."

The list of things people do to compete is endless. The customer buys from somebody who does it, period! The customer is not concerned with the quality in which it is done. I have to bundle burning software to sell my product simply because others do. It is only after the sale that I can explain to them the difference between software bundled with a $70.00 burning device and $70.00 retail software they purchase in a store.
