Check disk space and file sizes in the temp storage.

Clear out the history
Check the favourites filenames and storage structure is ok 
(just copy the folder to a directory with a longer name than the one used by IE 
- 
   if it works then the names and structure should be OK
   If not then you should get a clue from where it stops.)

Consider uninstalling and re-installing IE
(but make a note of logon channels and ids first)
