Mixed in: Sorry for the size.
Note: I cut my (other) first message in half and only sent the first half.
On second thought, I just this message down and am only sending the first 15%.
I don't want to be the cause of anything bad from a misunderstanding or poor
choice
of words... (I had that problem today with the book I was getting my car
instructions from.
They kept referring me to other chapters of the book for instructions that did
NOT appear
in those sections...

I don't know how you got that idea from what I said...
Actually, I guess I threw you a curve ball since I was not even talking about a
RESTORE at that point.
I only listed "browse", "mount" or "check integrity"...

What I had tried to say was that ALL the file sets (both full set and
incremental sets) need to be
available. That means "on-line", and in the same directory.

Unless they changed something in the new version, I would consider that "odd".
They never let you see ANYTHING in the two older versions (6&7) that let
you "see" (or know) you were in Linux...

The following is "generally" based on storing the files on a HD,
I have a way to "handle" the problem with Incremental. I get "rid of " the old
ones.
SINCE everything needs to be in the SAME directory, MOVE ALL the incremental
files to a different directory, and use the remaining FULL backup set as a
basis for a
new incremental... Putting incremental on incremental on incremental is like
layering
patch over patch over patch...
After some point, it is better to just make a new FULL back-up in an empty
directory...
(Better have lots of space available for most of the above...)
You can expand the principles to DVDs IF the proper "files sets" are available
on DVDs.
BTW: I ALWAYS split the original archive/image to 650M pieces. That gives
me a lot of leeway about how and where I can store them...

The BEST advise I can give is to use the program A LOT and play with it BEFORE
you
need it... As with ANY back-up or "bare-metal recovery" procedure, do the
ENTIRE
process from beginning to end INCLUDING a restore to a different HD to see if
the results
are what you want (or that it actually works -- boots)... Anything else is
playing with fire...
