While this is all true, I think a 3 year prison sentence is a bit over the top
(ok, a lot over the top). At lot of other more serious crimes get a shorter
sentence - first time DUI often gets 30 days or less and they have the
potential to kill.

Time will tell if any judge dishes out (or an appeals court upholds) a 3 year
prison sentence for copyright infringement.

Cool... maybe they'll stop.. (fat chance). I'm amused that aside from
the euphemists [who continue to call the activity "file sharing"], they
mostly don't even try for an apologetic for what they're doing: they
*KNOW* it is both improper and illegal [else they wouldn't go to so much
trouble to use various anonymizing schemes to cover their tracks], but in
an amoral sort of way they figure it is OK, or that the copyright holders
are evil and money grubbers and deserve being ripped off... or [more
likely] "free is good"...
