I'll third it. :) A 400 is fine for a file server. In fact, until
recently, my entire server network was made up of P400-500 machines
with 512 ram. (I recently got two new Dells for $450 each w/ 1GB ram.)
As an interesting aside - i read an article about google the other day
- seems they prefer many cheap servers over fewer multiprocessor
systems. I don't feel so bad about tending towards the low end server,
knowing that google goes for run-of-the-mill over top-of-the-line high
tech.
