I got caught in the same run around Jimmy is undergoing. The install program
won't let you pass go until it is satisfied there is nothing left of the
previous card. Glad your upgrade worked out great.

I just upgraded my ATI X800 card & didn't have to reset the card to 
Standard VGA before upgrading so I don't know what you're talking about. 
When changing cards it's always advisable to change down to Standard VGA 
before upgrading the cards.
