Thanks for the info. How odd that the default time server [the 'windows' one] seems to not work with the default XP setup... I do see a lot more about how this all works... I changed the ntp server to be "pool.ntp.org" and now at least I get a reasonable error [timeout]. I wondered if it was my firewall, so I disabled ZA and still the same error, so for whatever reason, my system can't seem to get a response from the 'pool' quickly enough. I guess I'll just keep trying it off and on and see if it eventually works..
