That does NOT mean they won't shrivel up at lower temps that what paper combusts at tho. Paper can be read even if it turns a little brown but it doesn't take much to render film or tape unusable even tho they haven't gone up in flames. The best bet would be a HD for that kind of storage even tho most catastrophic losses of data has nothing to do with acts of God.

Most of the small safes advertised in the Sunday newspaper fliers are only rated to protect paper, not media. You'll need to find one that specifically states that it's a media safe to protect backups from the heat of a fire. The best bet is to place a media safe inside a regular safe to increase the protection level.
